Welcome to my website. My name is Anastasia Yalanska and I am a self-taught needle felting artist based in Switzerland. I specialize in making one-of-a-kind animal figures out of wool.
I have taken up needle felting back in 2010 when friends of mine, knowing me as a creative person, presented me with a big bag of multi-colored sheep wool, which got my imagination going. I started making woolen figures of my own dog and my friends' pets and received lots of compliments on my work. Once the process got under way, it took on a life of its own and I soon realized I could not control it. The wool itself demanded to be formed into shapes, and soon, a fuzzy mass of carded wool turned into a miniature live creature before my eyes, as if my hands were guided by the spirits of all the dogs I ever knew and all the fantastic beings I imagined.
Each figure is a labor of love that takes many hours to complete. Due to the nature of the process my works can never be the same. You can see some of my creations in the gallery.
